Eglise Methodiste dā Haiti is a District of the Methodist Church of the Caribbean and is presided over by a Bishop, (Jean Lesly Dorcely).
Eglise Methodiste is divided into eleven (11) Circuits. Each of the Circuits is presided over by a Circuit Superintendent. There are 156 congregations spread over the country of Haiti serving approximately 22,000 persons. In addition, EMH has 122 schools and 7 medical clinics.
With the current political turmoil, chaos and gang violence, the largest need of EMH is to provide food for the hungry Due to disruption by the 400 gangs that control the country, food supply is disrupted. The UN estimates 40% of the population of Haiti is facing imminent starvation. As food is available, the church is still able to distribute food to the people.
Despite all of the violence, and threats of violence, the Methodist people remain strong in their faith. Most of the churches that are able to conduct services are full. EMH is continuing to grow with regular confirmation classes adding to the numbers.
The people of Haiti remain strong in their belief that there is hope and that God will deliver them from their troubles.
