Hearts for Haiti
Many people in rural Haiti have lost their homes from earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, and political violence. The alternative is for the families to live in substandard homes made of tree limbs, tarps, scrap lumber and tin. These houses are not waterproof, and the families are continuously inundated by the rain and wind.
In the Jeremie area, Hearts for Haiti is building shelter homes. These are typically two bedrooms with a kitchen and outdoor latrine. The shelter homes are constructed of wood uprights and sheet steel. We have built sixteen new homes so far with many more to do.
The recipients are required to contribute their labor for their home and for the next two shelter homes.
The cost of these shelter homes is $3,000.
Please prayerfully consider what you believe minimum housing for a family should be.
